For your daily dose of absurdity:

Here in the middle of my concrete, urban jungle, there are two Roosters now living on my neighbor’s balcony.

Their right legs are tied to the balcony’s railing with a single white string.

They sit on the edge of the black metal railing, next to the drying white Hanes that hang on the laundry line.

They stare over the Koreatown rooftops into the misty Hollywood Hills, remembering the good ole days.

Cock-of-the-block jokes aside – their blank faces and beady blinking eyes ain’t foolin’ anyone.

We all fear for their fate on Christmas come dinnertime, so we don’t complain about the cock-a-doodle-doodling, all the day long.
